The Covid Crisis: A Replay of 2008? – Live with Chris Whalen

The Reopening – Live with Raoul Pal & Christophe Ollari

The pre-coronavirus world we all thought we knew and understood is gone. The virus has altered both the natural and unnatural order of things. In this new world, central banks behave more like governments than lenders of last resort, political paradigms have shifted to reveal dangerous economic and ideological cleavages among super powers, and monetary/fiscal policy have entered uncharted territory leaving market participants to predict fundamentally unknowable risks for the future. As the world begins to lift restrictions, we are now on the verge of what is arguably the most critical juncture of the post Covid world - the reopening. To understand what may lie ahead, we need thinkers with a proven ability to look far into the future and correctly spot risks, opportunities and pitfalls. For this reason, we have called on Christophe Ollari, founder of Ollari Consulting, and Raoul Pal, CEO & co founder of Real Vision to be our guides on this week's segment of Real Vision Live.

There are 118 occurrences of "[INAUDIBLE]" in the transcript. Would it be possible to send a copy of the transcript to the interviewees after publication to invite them to search for those occurrences to help fill in the blanks? A subsequently updated transcript would be very valuable for interviews such as this one which would be very much worth revisiting if that could happen.

always views but in future skip the audio and focus on getting a good transcript (even in-person interviews are impossible to understand)

I was listening to this interview wearing a noise cancelling headphones and didn't notice any issues with the sound. Maybe give it a go next time. I think RV team is doing a great job given the circumstances. I didn't expect them to keep producing as much content as they do, definitely delivering in this crazy times. Thank you for all your efforts!

I believe Mr. Ollari said 35% of his portfolio is non-check payments assets. This could be precious metals and digital currency. Any other ideas? If the transcript does not make these assets clear, maybe Mr. Pal could follow up and ask in general what is in the 35%. It would be a nice addition to any Daily Briefing. DLS

His mic was awful. Pretty sure as Andrew said, 35% Gold and BTC (would love to know the breakdown) and he referred to them as “non-fiat currencies”... didn’t he?

Could you do a video analysing possible routes for trades for a deflation and inflation scenario? Surely helps to be ready when it´s time. Also could be used as a basis for various interviews, seeing how guest agree or disagree to various pathways trading wise...

Raoul did this with Hugh Hendry and they agreed that in both cases gold works well (eventually).

It's disappointing to have to stop listening due to the sound quality. PLEASE get this sorted out. A $50 mic and a few egg crates would make a world of difference ... I realize RV can't do much about network connections and accents, but the very uneven sound quality of these videos is easy to fix. Not doing so seriously hampers the quality of RV content IMO.

Would it make sense when refinancing a loan in Europe to see if you can get it from a Italian bank - if the fiscal union splits, that might be devalued. How would you rate the probability? 10%?

wonderful interview, with two of my favorites. i think I got every word, though it required heavy use of the 15 second review. Christophe needs better audio, and Raoul could use some improved lighting! ;)

Great interview Raoul despite the sound quality (it wasn't that bad). It's very refreshing to hear non Anglo-US centric points of views. 2 questions: 1.) Do you still think gold looks through the imminent spike in real rates? 2.) When you get questions about Canada can you please include Australia? This interview was at 1am Sydney time. Canada and Australia share very similar dynamics. Thanking you again for truly excellent content.

Great content. This is what it is (was?) like on a trading desk in London. Thick accents. Someone banging about in the background. Constant technological interruptions. But most importantly, bright people bouncing ideas around. Loved it.

I tried, but honestly Mr Ollari's accent was too thick for me to parse smoothly. I'd be happy to revisit this if it gets subtitles, though or some AI-genned transcript that would be easier to read.
