Master technical analyst Peter Brandt shares his perspective on overcoming drawdowns, both trading-wise and emotionally. I'm new at this trading thing. I've been a professional investor for 40 years, but started dabbling with some trades last year as well on top of my investment portfolio and those of my clients. I was thinking: how hard can this be? But, after doing it as a sideline for one year, I now realise that if I'm not more disciplineed and careful, I can lose a lot of money! I like the analytical side of finding a good trade. But a trade is much riskier than an investment. Why? Because a trade must stand on its own. A new investment gets added to an existing portfolio of investments. If the portfolio is properly constructed, one additional investment will not make or break it. I'll watch and listen to this video again and again. Because I now realise that being an experienced investor means nothing when it comes to making good trades. One question I have is: how many trades should one have at any one time? 1? 2? I had 12 at one time and never again! It's hard to think like a trader when you've been a long term investor for so long and never traded... Thanks Peter for your excellent mentoring.

Some of the best information on Real Vision comes from Peter Brandt. It's like learning from Yoda. I'd love to see more from him.

Great video as always from Peter! RV ....Can we please get an update on Peter's trading videos? The PB Trading Series was removed from RVTV when I was in the middle of going through them. Quite disappointing truthfully. Was told that a new trading series was in the works. Is this in fact the case?? Any updates on this?? The removed series was very informative and helpful and IMO one of the best tools on the RV platform.

Always a pleasure to listen to Mr. Brandt. Anyone who wants to be a professional trader should watch all interviews by Mr. Brandt on RVTV carefully. It is a really tough job. DLS

I remember in the market wizard books there were quite a lot of traders who emphasize the importance of re-assessing a trade daily, treating your unrealized gains as part of your capital - ie unless you would enter the trade now, get out and protect your capital. While others, like both Peter and Jessie Livermore look at unrealized profits as playing with the casinos seems to me both approaches can work, depending on the individual.
