Finding Opportunity in Junior Miners

The Expert View ·
Featuring Sean Fieler

Published on: June 18th, 2020 • Duration: 24 minutes

Sean Fieler, president and CIO of Equinox Partners, joins Real Vision to break down the opportunity he sees in the precious metals space – especially junior mining companies. He reveals his outlook for markets going forward given factors like government policy, social unrest, and COVID-19 to explain why he is positioned for a bull run in the precious metals space. He discusses the impact that central bank gold purchases, gold's behavior during times of crisis, and the dollar's recent moves will have on the future for the price of gold and shares of miners that are currently trading at a discount. Fieler also shares his process for choosing individual mining equities, and he reveals a few individual names he sees poised for healthy returns. Filmed on June 15, 2020.

What are the best index exposures here? I know GDXJ and SILJ are probably crap, but as the guest points out, picking winners can easily end in tears as well..

This fucking new model is garbage. I'm paying $300 a year for two sub par videos a week? Nothing is new.

He says Dundee is trading for 4 times FCF. The FCF is about $35M and market cap is $1B. What am I missing?

Solid interview. For those seeking investment targets, time spent conducting due diligence on https://twitter.com/MineraAlamos/status/1273825689578463233 would be time well spent IMHO. Disclosure - holder of stock.

Great interview. Reinforced my bias to have 5% of my investible assets in selected junior (in addition to my 25% gold silver metal holdings).

Thanks! I'm an advocate for RV listing tickers in the summary of the videos, and making all that searchable. So I could search "SAND" and this video would come up.

Junior minors is a very risky sector in a generals risky business If gold goes up as I expect, miners will go up to and tide will ease all the boats As crazy as I sound the fundamentals probably do not matter much as in order to make money you need "generalists" To allocate money to the sector and money will flow to majors or GDX, gdxj etfs You could hear it multiple times from Ross Betty that market wants larger/ liquid miners as passive flow will go without any conciderartion for functionals And the risk you take with single junior mine goes well beyond just geology

Gotta do your homework. I did, and Pure Gold Mining has been paying off for me in spades, and the mine isn't even ready to go into production until Q4!

Great interview, I guess at least, as from what I understood. Due to the bad sound for a foreigner very hard to understand without subtitles.

English is my native language, but I had difficulty comprehending as well. Likely poor mic location resulted in phase cancelations (multiple sonic reflections). Thankfully, we have the synced transcript – although at times it appears the sound baffled even the transcript’s author. I was impressed with Mr. Feiler’s insights, especially his specific detailing of ESG factor and specific country risks. But as I follow Marin Katsua’s work, Feiler was preaching to the converted.
