This conversation has gone a long way to calm my concern over the stability, and longevity of this latest bull-run on crypto. I see Bitcoin, and even Eth on a steep trajectory, and the only 'unknown' is the US government, (as is the norm), blundering around, vomiting up detrimental regulations in order to prevent problems in a space they don't understand.

Re XRP... Been rotating right into that 'black swan' for the last few weeks.. lost 0.75 BTC as it stands.. a year's wages.. had to capitulate at 0.33... I'm absolutely gutted. Having to not let it ruin Christmas for the sake of people around me but I feel very had done by. I accept my portion of the blame but nobody comes out of it looking good. It feels shady. Somebody tell me I buy back in now and snatch victory from the jaws ha.

@Danny K - sorry, but XRP isn't worth much beyond a quick scalp. Look at their long term chart, its replete with spikes and reversions to soul-crushing lows. The SEC lawsuit is a huge liability for them, so I'd think twice about catching that particular dagger.

@Timothy P.. cheers fella. I never valued XRP, particularly. Plus Garlinghouse always seemed flakey in interviews. I dunno. The chart looked good to me, 'alt-season' etc... it just looked a good trade to me. Anywhere near $2 I'd have jumped. I'm gutted, I really am. But who cares ha. We crack on.

@Danny - sorry this happened to you. I hope you haven't lost too much. It isn't perfect by any means (I have noticed some incorrect information), but this organization might help with basic fundamental analysis in the space. https://www.cryptoratingcouncil.com

I'm back in. No choice have I. Didn't even flinch. I need to be held though. Soothed. When I get out of this trade I'm going on holiday. It's been a nightmare.

Outstanding. After all the ICO shilling and inaccurate decentralization theatre pieces, it's good to see RV producing something with genuine educational value. Hopefully it will help viewers evaluate the risks associated with tokens that are at risk of securities regulation. Still not convinced about the incentives of the Zcash founders reward. Didn't they try to increase this recently? It appears like taxation without representation to me. There are plenty of other proven ways to fund open source software development.

This should be sent to Nouriel Roubini.... If he is really intelectually honest he would think twice before saying bitcoin is a scam. By the way, bitcoin hitting a record today must have spoilt his Christmas ... lol

I had no idea Coin Center existed prior to this interview, though I hoped an organization like it did, especially one focused on digital assets, especially now. Regulation isn't sexy, but imagine a world without it (really). Some of the brightest minds in finance at select universities are heavily recruited by investment banks and other big name firms the world over with the allure of becoming the next big deal. And then there are those few, brave souls who choose a life of relative obscurity in exchange for the opportunity fight to protect and uphold the liberties that make it possible for everyone to have a fair shot at creating the kind of life they want in the first place, including themselves of course. Talk about a thankless job. Great interview. Donated.

Excellent interview! Way to go RV. As a former CCO of an RIA I always like to hear well informed experts describe the regulatory structure here in the States in a way non-professionals can understand it. I would echo those that suggest you get Peter beck in the future. Also, if you haven't yet done so, check out the Coin Center website, blog and Twitter posts. Great stuff. Knowledge is power!

Awesome interview! Easy to follow and adds clarity to the regulation fog. Would be nice if RV brought Peter back every 6 months to give us an update on regulation stuff in the US

I always appreciate those that practice law - they have extensive training in logical thought and structuring arguments. Mr Valkenburgh is a breath of fresh air -- I hope RV brings him back when crypto legislation is passed to do analysis. I'd vastly prefer him to do it instead of some altcoin ambassador. In the long term, regulation of crypto will fail - just like the legacy financial system will. But I'll take representation any day until that goal is achieved. Good interview.
