The Russian government actually benefits from the Ruble devaluation. It's obligations remain in Rubles, while its tax receipts are derived from commodities that are exported and paid for by US dollar.

Putin is like the Steve Jobs of Russia. For 15 years Putin has rebuilt Russia seeking key allies such as China and soon Germany. It is clear Putin understands The Art of War - winning without fighting

Whoa there, fellow, Ukraine has been part of the Russias longer than California has been part of the United States . . .

Very superficial set of views, in my opinion. They might as well have come from the front pages of the NY times.

I'd like to see more interviews with this guy. He's definitely an interesting thinker. Others who bash him about Russia have no clue. Mr Welsh is spot on.

We have no clear evidence that Russia/Putin downed the Malaysian airline

Marin Katusa's book The Colder War is worth reading for background on Russia & the current crisis. It explains well how Putin works. The West is not blameless on Ukraine. Not sure this guy gets it.

The US and NATO are the puppet-masters in Ukraine - not Russia! Ukraine is ONLY about creating conflict and propaganda to boost profits for the US/NATO military-industrial complex. PERIOD

Mr Welsh should confine his observations to investing. Other comments highlight his thin grasp of Russian history readily available -- particularly Steven Cohen.

Well, you can believe western propaganda or Russian propaganda. Your choice. I think if Putin messes around with the oligarchs, he will have met his match.

Understanding geopolitics is key. USSR went down and Russia was born in huge chaos. Russia was given many promises by NATO. USA behaved in a distrustful way. Crimea was taken back. Enough is enough!!!

Interesting point about there essentially being a trillion dollar bounty on Putin's head. I think its fair to wonder if that gets acted on, regardless of who started what.

Totally disagree with this guy on Ukraine and it's causes. That was a US backed coup WAKE UP. Very disappointed that RVTV would put this guy on, more half truth propaganda -CNBC style.

Can't he be right about the future of Russia, even if he is missing the role of the neocons to provoke? Sobering and worthwhile interview and comments from listeners. Thanks!

Russia/US/Etc. are maneuvering per the bifurcation of the evolving global monetary system. Each country is acting in its own perceived best interest. Iran,Yemen, and Ukraine are the new proxy zones.

This guy seems like a hapless dupe rather than a propagandist, but please, the idea that Russia/Putin went looking for trouble rather than responding to neocon induced provocations is laughable.

First disappointment on RVTV. Mr Welsh should try researching opposing views to unsubstantiated stories presented as fact in MSM. The West appears to be the aggressor here (again) while Putin defends.
