Corn is up because of the poor weather in the midwest which threatens the crop! and this: Too much rain and even when it stops you have to let the soil dry out a bit before you can put heavy equipment out there to do the planting. I don't find "trend" insightful but fundamentals i.e., weather, suggest higher corn prices ahead.

Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin Report states that by May 26th: By May 26, " producers had planted 58 percent of the nation’s corn acreage, 32 percentage points behind both last year and the 5-year average." (see page 12) I think this is going to be a big story in 2019.

Thanks John, one would have expected that with ASF the demand for grains would keep crippling soft prices but with those supply disruptions prices have gone the other way. So if you combine higher pork prices from ASF + softs you get a good case for something like the DBA ETF.

He should have studied the solar cycles instead, where he would learn about the 11-year cycle in soft commodities. His historical work is a joke and I'm rather disappointed that RV is running pieces like this.

Steve: Your comment is too harsh. John is a competent analyst with a decent record of picks over the years. Perhaps you can present your historical work so we can all learn and profit from your wisdom...
