Clemente Cappello, Kiyan Zandiyeh – Horizon

Featuring Clemente Cappello, Kiyan Zandiyeh

Kiyan Zandiyeh, PM Iran of Sturgeon Capital, and Founder & CIO of Sturgeon Capital Clemente Cappello, discuss the developments in Iran which make it extremely attractive for foreign investment. Kiyan and Clemente explain how oil & gas play a much lower role in the economy than is assumed, outline why the demographics and politics of Iran point to a boom in the next decade, and provide a framework for value investing into Iran’s stock market, including a roadmap on avoiding corruption, hedging currency devals, and determining which businesses are vulnerable to foreign competition.

Anyway... that Kiyan guy sure is one smooth, smart MF! Would love to learn more about Sturgeon and also Iran and how they plan to invest there in more detail. These series of videos, Horizons, are proving to be some of the best so far.

It seems the govt. is still in control of much of the economy though, and lots of price controls and subsidies. I'm also curious about how a minority western investor would do in an Iranian court.

As a US citizen where we are basically told that Iran is the axis of evil... this was rather enlightening. Forced to sit and watch due to crap politics but loved the interview.

An interesting view on a potential growth area. looked at Sturgeon Capitals website but you need $10MM to play so no use to mere mortals. Pity.

I'm glad they estimated a timeline for US investors although nothing is certain. With so few value opportunities in the world it is frustrating to watch Iran from the sideline.
