A European Breakout?

Technical Trader ·
Featuring Aksel Kibar

Published on: July 4th, 2019 • Duration: 12 minutes

Aksel Kibar, CMT, founder of Tech Charts Research & Education Services, makes his Real Vision debut with a look at the long-term charts of a handful of European indexes. He examines the bullish set-ups for a few country-specific components of the Euro Stoxx 600, compares them with historical examples of indexes that have broken out from similar bullish patterns, and explains why he believes horizontal chart patterns are superior to diagonals. Filmed on July 2, 2019 in Varna, Bulgaria.

Good content as always from Aksel. Getting a better mic would make the listening easier on the ears.

Just I side note since I've seen this analysis already from Aksel... I wanted to further my education on technical analysis specifically classical charting techniques and Aksel delivered with his Tech Charts service that 'm subscribed to. I'm very glad to see him on Real Vision. Hope to see him here more often.

I have to say as the liquidity is so bad on European Exchanges, coupled with Transaction Taxes I've given up even looking. For me the European Commision and their insane market regulations have destroyed liquidity e.g. look at what's going on with Switzerland at the moment.

I've traded and invested in illiquid markets over the past decade (Middle East & GCC), I've seen volumes pick up at latter stages of uptrends.

Do the charts indicate that these equity breakouts might be accompanied by declines in currencies, eg EUR, Askel?

I don't relate equity market breakouts to specific FX or Bond market breakout/breakdown. Correlations might exist. These relationships might breakdown at different times of the trend.

I have always wonder: how can someone risk, hard saved money, on this type of "technical" sourcery?

Have you seen the breakout on S&P 500? It seems like some long-term investors are long. We are looking at possibilities. European indices can breakout to all-time highs as well.

Hi, what about the Topix? It had a very similar breakout at the beginning of 2018 but seems to have failed. Can that set up still be considered? thanks
