Bitcoin’s Role in a New Financial System

The Creators of Crypto ·
Featuring Barry Silbert and Raoul Pal

Published on: June 25th, 2019 • Duration: 7 minutes

Barry Silbert, founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group, and Raoul Pal, CEO and co-founder of Real Vision, discuss the future of Bitcoin, its role in a new financial system that’s being built right now, and its potential to replace gold. Silbert argues the combination of speculation and the next recession will be a trigger for Bitcoin’s popular acceptance. This clip is excerpted from a video published on Real Vision on June 17, 2019 entitled “Top Crypto Investor Looks Forward.”

From my perspective, the hurdle Bitcoin (or other Crypto-currencies) must get over, is the track-ability of transactions from a Sovereign Gov't taxation perspective (appreciating the whole context of taxation appears to be under its own potential evolution with the advent of modern monetary theory over the next few decades - but that's a different discussion). The guest's point that the Bitcoin market is only a $125B market, it hasn’t yet had to deal with this hurdle. To the guest's point, the market just isn't big enough. I’d love for Real Vision to come up with a guest with expertise and perspective in this area to offer comments. The promoted anonymous feature of Bitcoin may in fact be where it’s evolutionary path to adoption as a “new financial system” must occur.
