A Closer Look at Venezuela

Featuring Jay Newman, Daniel Lansberg-Rodriguez

Real Vision’s Brian Price sits down with Jay Newman and Daniel Lansberg-Rodriguez for a follow-up to “Venezuela: State of Disaster.” Together, the journalist, the investor and the academic examine the factors that are enabling Nicolas Maduro to stay in power even as political developments in Latin America could trigger a new wave of conflicts. They gauge the potential for an outbreak of war on the Venezuelan-Colombian border, and discuss potential solutions to prevent additional bloodshed in the already crime-ravaged nation. Filmed on November 14, 2018 in New York.

Nothing in the human condition is crazier than self inflicted humanitarian disasters like Venezuela. From a distance even a casual observer of the news can see it coming, ever so slowly, for years and then bang. Not sure if it is next up, but South Africa is in the queue for similar problems to Venezuela &/or Zimbabwe.
Investing opportunities? Only after regime change, and in many countries with bad political situations the regime change makes things worse rather than better.

Not bad, not bad. Might want to have spent a few more moments introducing the participants and their qualifications. I think Jay's questions were well thought out, clear and concise; however, the answers tended to be rambling, inconclusive. Adam could have corralled and summarized those answers, which would have made for a better interview. Good points include allowing the guest full freedom of response. And, well thought out questions. For this venue, I'd suggest one interviewer and two invited guests. On behalf of your subscribers, thank you RV! Please keep this innovative content coming!

I like this video, but I think it should a stand alone series: "A closer look at [insert country or region]" from an investing perspective.

I will be watching this first thing in the morning, but wanted to put this out there, because it surprised the hell out of me. (we lived in Caracas for 4 years in the early 2000s)
Our local coffee shop owner (here in Bangkok) just had a holiday in central/South America including 10 days in Venezuela! Tourism is still happening!? Yes it was bad, but even she could see what a beautiful country and lovely people.
What a total shame, what’s happening now....

Very good, MSMedia has totally disregarded VZ. and its future. Consequences in the future?

The last three Exchanges including this one are just a bit too politics orientated for my liking.

Just look at the number of upvotes and downvotes on the earlier ones with Tony Greer, Tommy Thornton & Dave Floyd along with Raoul Pal and Julien Brigden and Grant Williams, Simon and Dan Oliver. and then compare it with the last three exchanges.

@RV. I think its time to go back to the earlier ones.
