Emerging Markets: From Vulnerability to Opportunity

Featuring Edward Misrahi

At the beginning of 2017, Ed Misrahi of Ronit Capital was buying the Mexican peso in the aftermath of the U.S. election, when most investors were running the other way. The peso rallied aggressively in the first part of that year. Today, Ed still loves the long-term prospects across emerging markets, but sees excellent rewards from diversification and in leaving a little powder dry for better opportunities ahead. Filmed on May 3, 2018 in London.

Volume is very low here. It’s generally a problem with Real Vision, but this was really bad.

I had to crank up the volume in order to hear his comments and then mute it quickly when the ridiculous cut music came on. I have seen many comments about the music, will anyone actually address it? Thanks in advance!

Strongly agree, I listen to audio only and it went from one extreme to another. This is a fairly basic request - decent volume mixing - so a little perturbed at the amount of comments with little to no action. C’mon Milton, crack some heads on this one!

Agree. It's extremely annoying! 1) The music is itself super annoying, 2) the mix has these problems a bunch. MILTON hello...?

Have to agree, i have watched every single Real Vision video and for some reason the sound quality has been all over the place in the last few months - it's very annoying.

Absolutely agree. Should be an easy fix, but still not addressed after months of complaints by many. Too loud and a waste of time. This is education, not musical entertainment!

Yes i have complained before twice about the sound mixing. I just don't need the blaring music at all.

Investors seem to be depending on government intervention and more stimulus to keep things moving along even if it is at a crawl. Since 2008 there is so little natural growth or healing w/o CB interventions and yet volatility is dead.

Interering segment, and obviously very experienced guy. But, would be better to have an interviewer guiding him through specific case examples. Would get more out of his perspective than just listening to general state of EM.

Best contributor in EM space on RealVision. Maybe best overall given EM investing is much more difficult. This is a a great snapshot of where we are in EM risk/reward now. Edward is so good at the nuances of each relavent item. Just has great judgement. I think I'd be more bearish currently only because I'd have a more bullish ST view on the USD. If you are bearish on China (credit, RMB) and Europe (credit), aren't you defacto bullish on USD? Agree RMB drop not priced in and is actually a great stealth short here.
