I liked the logic, but took way too long to get to the point.

Just to clarify for the audience, we don't have a clear understanding of the pathogenesis of either obesity, depression nor the interaction between the two. These are multifactorial traits with undoubtedly complex etiologies. Additive genetic effects account for approximately 40% of both major depression and morbid obesity/adiposity traits, but with only mild overlap between these two diseases. Mendelian Randomization is an approach that uses genetics to provide causal evidence that may underlie a correlation. While it's often useful, it's not perfect and suffers from several limitations.

Personally I subscribe to RVTV to advance my investment goals.

Is it not possible that the most direct link is "lack of physical activity -> less production of endorphins -> more depression" ? and really has little to do with urbanization other than the lack of physical activity?

What is the root cause of depression?
I found out that no amount of drugs, booze, sex, money, religion could fix that deep wound.
Self inquiry, going right to the source of the discomfort will reveal some profound answers.
When the fantasy is truly seen, it is the end of suffering, depression.

The knock on Effect is some of the smartest, most thought provoking content that we make. Investing is all about joining the dots...and second and third order thinking.
