From Jan 1971 to Oct 2019, the S&P 500 (with dividend reinvestment) has returned about 10.5% annualized. Gold has returned about 8% That's a big win for SPX if you withstood the volatility. Interestingly, without dividend reinvestment, gold is slightly ahead. That's telling you that inflation is much higher than the 2% BLS number. Investors covet bonds for safety, but bonds are the real loser in purchasing power if inflation is much higher than reported. A far better portfolio would be 60/40 stocks/gold versus stocks/bonds until interest rates more accurately reflect the true rate of inflation and provide a real return.

Gold steadily declined from from 1980-2000. If anything (that has some utility/relevance) goes down 20 years chances are it's a bargain price. So coming off that low it looks like a top performing asset. That should be noted for perspective (I like gold now but for completely different reasons).

I didn't listen to everything in the BTC vs. gold series. But did RV have a BTC skeptic on to debate BTC bull? Not that I'm either, I would just like to hear the debate. Both sides of the debate would have to have equally deep knowledge of crypto, and understand both the technical underpinnings and financial asset side.

They've had Bitcoin skeptics on before, but usually it's been people shilling a "better bitcoin." RV's bitcoin week is basically the counter to everything else in mainstream media and finance, which is anti-bitcoin. If you want to hear some bitcoin naysayers, just look up Peter Schiff or Thomas Freidman. PS - the best BTC video on RV (besides PlanB and Saifedean this week) was an older interview. Look up "Trace Mayer"

I think Eric Townsend from Macro Voices would be good in a debate as a BTC skeptic. He has written a book about it and has both a tech and financial background. Maybe he could debate Plan B or Saifdeen on RV.

Schiff and Friedman don't have a strong technical background.

RV aired no bearish crypto episodes, only bullish.

I think this is a format the RVTV is still missing. A proper 'Cambridge-style' debate. Not a sit around the table 'discussion' with interruptions. 3 speakers each side, 20mins each. Bitcoin Vs Gold. Indexing Vs stock picking. Active Vs Passive.
