Break for the Bull

Featuring Max Wolff

Max Wolff, chief economist at the Phoenix Group, is waving a white flag of caution on the U.S. economy. Max says the combined impact of rising debt, a harmful trade war, and misguided fiscal policies will lead to a downturn for the S&P 500. He lays out his specific trade in this interview with Brian Price. Filmed on August 21, 2018.

Love it. So many good one liners too. One thing I like is how many people comment that this is 'just another bear'.

    Thanks

Eloquent speaker. His bearish equity views seem to fit with his bullish dollar views. I'm on the other side of this as I've been posting repeatedly. The dollar had a breather this week, after two horrendous weeks, but I think the DXY continues down for late summer and early autumn. I note that Double Line (jeffrey gundlach's firm) has just called for a coming "dollar crash". I wouldn't be that extreme but I'm just saying.

I really gravitate toward those that don’t hem or haw and throw in multiple disclaimers, caveats, etc. I just want a well articulated well reasoned opinion complete with the underlying assumptions. I can take it from there. Max is my kind of guy. Thanks Milton.

I love this guy. Incredibly colorful and intellectual. This is great fun and its a great break from the financials I spend my days sifting through. I agree with him on gold but the S&P might depend on the USD. Seems like its turning over and we can still rally the S&Ps a bit more if u take 6-7% off the USD and cut a China fudge deal. The Orange Autarky-loving Wunderkind certainly knows this heading into November.

Reasonable thesis & idea, though 17-to-14 reward-to-risk ratio not fantastic.
    But another 4month trade...
Hey Milton, can we get a more "investment" trade idea? 2-to-4 year timeframe?

What a great line by Max Wolff,
"The Bloom is off the Rose.....I don't know when the petal hits the floor, but the bloom is off..."

For those of you who listened to Ben Hunt recently, concerning the power of Narratives and Missionaries, I think Max has surely got to be elevated to "Missionary" with that great line.

The Emperor surely has no clothes and Mr "Whatever it takes" may soon find that it may not be enough!

Love this guy. Get him on again...not sure we got much new here though. Winter is coming...i think that much is clear to anyone paying attention. Would be good to get someone that talked a little bit more specifically about recession positioning...

I like snark, everyone's opinion is welcome especially if it does not comport to what the borkers are telling us or what I think. Group think does not work. Much appreciated.

This guy is the king of snark and his political commentary is unwanted. My opinion.
