    If you own shares you are within the financial system. If you own gold bullion you are outside of the financial system. That's the difference. GLD in the system. Shares in the system. Bullion not

    Hi AG, The thing is stocks are paper with a notional value...just like £$ et al. Physical gold has a real value in times of true crisis.

    I am trying to appreciate this fixation on gold; but I just don't get it. Significant positions in the shares of major companies is better.
