Bill Browder is the CEO and co-founder of Hermitage Capital Management, the investment advisor to the Hermitage Fund, which was once the largest foreign portfolio investor in Russia. Browder’s primary investment strategy was shareholder rights activism.

- Browder took on large Russian companies such as Gazprom, Surgutneftegaz, Unified Energy Systems, and Sidanco, and in retaliation, he was refused entry to Russia, deported to the UK, and declared a threat to Russian national security in 2005.
- In 2009 his Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was killed in a Moscow prison after uncovering and exposing a $230 million fraud committed by Russian government officials.
- Browder has spent years conducting a global campaign to impose visa bans and asset freezes on individual human rights abusers, particularly those who played a role in Magnitsky’s false arrest, torture and death.
- His 2015 New York Times bestselling book, “Red Notice,” recounts his experience in Russia and his ongoing fight for justice for Sergei Magnitsky.
