Gavin Wood is the co-founder of Ethereum and creator of Polkadot. After leaving Ethereum in 2016, he co-founded Parity Technologies, which develops core infrastructure for Ethereum, Bitcoin, Zcash and Polkadot. He is a computer programmer and former research scientist.

- Prior to developing Ethereum, Wood worked as a research scientist at Microsoft.
- During his role as CTO at Ethereum, he coded the first functional implementation of the platform released as “POC-1” and authored Yellow Paper, the first formal specification of any blockchain protocol. -He is also the inventor of the Solidity language.
- The technology surrounding Polkadot is set to help support the decentralization of the web, a thoughtfully radical ideology pioneered by Wood and aptly coined Web 3.0.
