Daniel Roberts, editor in chief at Decrypt Media, joins Ash Bennington, Real Vision senior editor, to talk about crypto regulation, commercial applicability of blockchain, and crypto tribalism. Roberts explains that the crypto community seems to be bifurcated into two groups—those that encourage regulators to pay attention to the space and those that don't believe regulators should be involved at all—and that the regulation has helped crypto go mainstream, which helps with greater adoption and institutional investments. Roberts discusses the importance of commercial use of blockchain, pointing out that there is tremendous value for artists who use NFTs to sell their work as it enables them to monetize without needing the backing of major publishers or art galleries. He also touches on the many different tribes he sees in crypto.
