The people working in DeFi are reimagining the delivery of a key set of human services on-chain. One of them, Ryan Hanley, is Head of Product – DeFi at Elwood Technologies. Ryan joins Qredo's Ben Whitby to talk about why more institutions are allocating capital to this new way of doing business and how Elwood is designing its trading infrastructure to meet rising demand for digital assets. Ryan and Ben also discuss recent developments around custody and “know your customer” compliance, and they explore the privacy risks of storing user data. Although novel because of the newness of the technology, these are all relatively routine steps when it comes to the legal aspects of creating a new industry. Though there’s still more work to be done to make widespread institutional adoption a reality, Hanley is hopeful.
