Published on: January 13th, 2021 • Duration: 67 minutes

Loretta Joseph, a fintech and regulatory advisor, joins Real Vision senior editor Ash Bennington to discuss the efficiency gains made with blockchain, policymakers' awareness of the crypto space, and her work educating regulators. Joseph shares a wealth of knowledge and experience from working in traditional markets to now helping push forward crypto initiatives such as helping to write the world's first Initial Coin Offering legislation. She explains how blockchains help to remove unnecessary middlemen as well as the need for trust and consolidating backends to one public infrastructure blockchain. Joseph has been working with policymakers to make sure that crypto assets are understood and clearly represented in law. Filmed on November 6, 2020. Key Learnings: Blockchain enables major efficiency gains over traditional banking and market infrastructure. Ensuring that regulators understand the value proposition of the new technology can open the door to a favorable environment for financial innovation. Advocates of crypto are working with policymakers to ensure innovation is not stifled and that innovators have clear paths to compliance.
