Trust & Timing: An Inside Look at Private Banking

The Interview ·
Featuring Barbara Young

Published on: March 7th, 2019 • Duration: 46 minutes

Barbara Young emerged as a "Golden Girl" of the West Coast private banking world in the 1980's. In this unique interview, she tells Real Vision's Grant Williams how she overcame the challenges that she faced as a woman in a heavily male-dominated field. Young, now CEO of Cypress Wealth Advisors, also explains how her assessments of markets and managers drive her decisions about asset allocation. Filmed on January 31, 2019 at the TIGER 21 Conference in Boca Raton, Florida.

Great conversation! As usual Grant's style allows for the interviewer to feel relax and open to share their experiences. Having 2 young daughters I completely sympathized with Barbara and it was wonderful to hear her story. Thanks RV!

Really enjoyed this one on so many levels. Having had to recently fire a money manager this one had some real insights for me. The dichotomy between advising the Wealth creators and the Wealth inheritors was especially insightful, IMO. Great interview Grant and perhaps more importantly, great Curation.

I just forwarded this to my two young adult daughters who are finding their way in the tech/business world. It has always been hard for me to relate to their experiences as I didnt't really encounter these male/female barriers in medicine. Great interview.

I'd be curious what she gleaned from her MA courses in Psychology. She seems to have been able to derive practical interpersonal knowledge from the academic course work.

Thank you both. This was excellent. As a woman, in the business world in the 80's, I could truly relate.
