Hey Shawn great idea. Would you pair long JBS against a short in WH group to have a hedge on the trade ?

I think this is 4 times I've watched this one now Shawn, great to get an update, particularly with the continuing spread and recent spike in China of ASF. Thanks again

He is stating “China is a large importer of bean meal”. This is not true! China does import roughly 94 million mt of Soybeans and nowadays due to Trump the Chinese mainly from Brazil and to lesser extent from Argentina. With an import tariff of 25% on US beans the CME soymeal contract could remain under pressure due to spillover weakness but not because of the mentioned rationale of China importing less meal.

Interesting idea, but no comment on the trend of gong vegan these days and alternative protein (plant-based) sources? No, I'm not a vegan evangelist. Far from it. Just something to keep in mind...

Perhaps the functionality to be able to delete ones own comment and repost would be more doable.

I love Hackett's trade ideas, but you have to get him on to do trade updates. For example, how about an update on the coffee trade. Did he simply get stopped out at 1.15 and is done? Did he re-establish lower? etc. You need trade updates from all of these traders.

The ASF story might be in later innings as this story broke about 2 months ago. I don't think he provided adequate discussion about the risks associated with JBS. Didn't the Batista brothers just get out of jail for bribery?

Yes we highlighted asf back in august in our subscriber reports but certainly not yet in late stages. Brazil has corruption risks but jbs settled and paid a fine and the company remains world class. Thx Shawn

Great topical story in my opinion but it has 2 main shortcomings: 1. the first option should not be discussed, it is highly illiquid ETN, trades 1738 volume daily on a good day and 2. thesis itself on a pigs destruction by the African swine disease should be detailed a bit deeper (numbers, evidential support).

In a 15 minute interview one does not have the time to go over greater detail other than a general overview.
