Some great lessons in "antifragile" investing: equity rather than debt; decentralised, independent profit centres; constant learning through trial and small errors.

Real Estate is the silent work horse of many good portfolios. Positive cashflow is king.

Fascinating discussion. Makes me want to head back to West Africa, possibly via one of his hotels. They look great on the website.

    This is great!

Fresh, interesting and nothing to do with central banks or oil.

Wow...that's unique insight into the African market from someone who is living there. I took out of it: (a) don't bother with an Africa fund and (b) unless I'm personally going to be involved, wait.

A very interesting conversation. More about niche opportunities which need constant hands on control. Not for the feint hearted, or anyone looking for a fast buck.
