Finding Fraud

The Interview ·
Featuring Roddy Boyd

Published on: April 5th, 2019 • Duration: 61 minutes

Considering recent focus on Fyre Festival, Theranos and “crypto hustlers,” fraud is in the front of everyone’s mind. Some may see this as a passing fad, but for Roddy Boyd, author of “Fatal Risk: A Cautionary Tale of AIG’s Corporate Suicide,” this is nothing new. Boyd sits down with Brian Price to walk through his background, his career uncovering fraud, and the “concentric layers of horror” that the health care industry presents to the average American. Boyd also breaks down his view that private equity institutions like Apollo and Blackstone could be the next major frauds to be exposed. Filmed March 14, 2019 in New York.

The existence of a few honest guys like Roddy who serve the greater good of society, and act like canaries in the coal mine, give me hope that just maybe capitalism can survive, instead of being suffocated by a small number of powerful, greedy and all too often criminal individuals at the top, who are aided by (largely) incompetent and or corrupt regulators. As several fellow viewers have already said, we shall miss you Brian. Thanks for all your excellent interviews and valuable insights.

Top. Thanks both for the great interview! Interesting warning re: shareholders in listed PE vehicles (not necessarily LP’s). These have been often listed in the previous upturns and in that time the annual reports already showed some of them (blackstone being one) would not be proxies for PE performance. E.g. emulating LP cash flows. Moreover the lack of influence shareholders could exert were worrying and a result of the PE bubble of that time. Not sure whether much has changed. Caveat emptor.

Profound. Eye-opening. Honest. Hard-hitting. All things Real Vision intended to bring to an audience which was fed up of the noise and of the limited hangouts put out by legacy media. Roddy, if you are reading this - you deserve to be awarded with a civilian honour for your role in flushing the cockroaches out of societal sewers. Thanks for your service. We need many many more like you.

he had me until he started talking about buying our own drugs from Canada - Canada's government supports the drug price - they don't create drugs they might manufacturer US Drugs but I don't think they even really do that. the Canadian people should be against drugs being resold the US - if you believe like I do that government doesn't pay for the drugs the citizens of Canada do - they would be supporting the citizens of the USA

When it comes to the UK Markets - particularly the shit show that is AIM, the following website has done some sterling work when it comes to investigative reporting and highlighting cases of Fraud: https://www.shareprophets.com/ The language used is likely to not be to everybody's tastes, but focus on the message, not the manner in which it is delivered.

It would have been good to get a bit more detail on some of these allegations. Things felt a bit shouty ranty at times with not so much substance. Maybe he has that privately and did not want to share with the audience, in which case I would suggest waiting until it is ready for our ears before saying anything.

He receives and passes information from/to short sellers while pretending to be a non-profit. They trade prior to his releases and then cover. Part of the ecosystem and infrastructure required to take a stock down before the fraud/allegations are conclusive....
