Fred Hickey – Part Two

Featuring Fred Hickey

In Part Two of this riveting conversation, founder and writer of The High Tech Strategist Fred Hickey continues his discussion with Real Vision, exploring the smartphone market with insights into Apple and their supply-chain ‘Apple Dumplings’, how he approaches fairly assessing the value of unicorns, and why he, a life-long tech investor, is suddenly very interested in gold.

Thought I would do something interesting for an hour this afternoon, so I watched this again. Love Fred's enthusiasm and deep understanding/research. Would be great to have Fred on again about now (June 20, 16). There is so much happening now that I would love to hear him talk about - and predict from here. Thanks for having Fred on RV. Great interviewing Grant.

Yes, there is an overbought market but I think in, in general, he is underestimating the big data story. Just because it is not tangible doesn't mean it is not valuable.

IMHO people mistake Burbank/hickey being tech bull vs bear. Burbank was talking great growth areas AFTER this liquidity event -so long term. Hickey is more a value guy & never touched on "after".

Loved it. Agree on panels. Barry Ritholz's thoughts on gold vs... everyone else? Maybe Raoul backs him up with some strong dollar talk? Grant sometimes plays devils advocate, like that.

Just giving my tuppence worth on Joshua's point that for Gold to make a bottom, the Gold Bugs need to have been killed. How does a 75 - 95% in the Gold miners since 2011 equate to NOT being killed?!

Surprised he mentioned GG and AEM but not the royalty companies like FNV and OR. Great interview. As an amateur dabbling in the gold miner space, this corroboration is a huge confidence-booster for me

what RV is desperately missing is a panel discussion, it would be fascinating to watch Fred Hickey (bearish) talk tech with John Burbank (bullish) . instead of interview, a dialectic

For Graham, To maximize return indeed "pick one", but for the rest of us scaredy cats what's wrong with the old Harry Browne "part Gold and part US Dollar" as no one knows the final chapter yet?

I agree with Fred's analysis regarding gold. Gold will likely surpass the old high and end in a bubble. Before that happens, the gold bugs and preppers need to get killed. Then we will have a bottom.
