David B. Iben – Master Class

Featuring David B. Iben

David Iben, CIO of Kopernik Global Investors, sits with Real Vision for a fascinating Master Class on his far-reaching investing career. In this riveting hour, David explains his current focus on uranium and coal mining stocks, his outlook on U.S. versus emerging markets, and the opportunity cost in being invested in cash, stocks, or bonds when compared to particular resource and mining investments in which he anticipates a 5-10x upside.

    Uranium!
Since this interview, the price has halved again from $40 to $20 / lb.
    What does this mean?
    Back.. up.. the.. truck.
Uranium is set to go parabolic.
It shall be the trade of the decade.
RVTV.. you should do a uranium special to spread the word.

But really.... what skillset is it that he has which allows him to be able to value assess such diverse companies around the globe? How does he know it's time to sell a railway in Hong Kong or that the current book-value of some random Italian bank is at a 40% discount?

It's just such a diverse knowledge base.... it blows my mind. Where should one begin with this? Mastering financial statements? Reading that old book about value investing? :)

This guy is like the Doc from Back to the Future! I would feel 100% secure parking all my cash in his fund, haha.

If there is some Silicone Valley entrepreneur who can find a way to take the knowledge in his head and download it into mine... please.

Man, I needed this piece; just as a reminder of why I'm long so much stuff that continues to underperform. Invaluable lecture on the 'long-game' of value investing.

101 Investing, how does our psyche get so confused, running with the herd is exhausting and costly, patience , value investing leads to min risk, max rewards.

Took a few mins to attune to his accent but also really liked his style and approach. Pragmatic with neither a doomsday or wildly bullish view - patient and focused on the current areas of value.
