“Big Short” Trader on Today’s Opportunities

The Larry McDonald Series ·
Featuring Danny Moses

Published on: March 26th, 2019 • Duration: 54 minutes

Danny Moses is a private investor and entrepreneur best known for his role as a trader navigating the global financial crisis as chronicled in Michael Lewis’s "The Big Short." In this interview with New York Times best-selling author Larry McDonald, founder of the Bear Traps Report, Moses not only reviews the problems that led up to the global financial crisis, but also outlines the signs of distress that might presage the next crisis. He also tells McDonald which industry he is looking to for exceptional gains, and why gold is a must-own for every portfolio. Filmed on March 5, 2019 in New York. I loved this interview. So intelligent from both interviewer and interviewee. Thanks v. much to Larry and Danny! I absolutely love RV. Did I miss something though? Larry/Danny were hardcore ETF bashing only to recommend ETFs as a way to play the Cannabis theme?

They said ETF's not are inherently bad but everyone jumping into passive investing which ETFs are and ETF's being heavily momentum based. This will only amplify the next stock market crash just as ETF's amplified it on the way up.

Excellent. I stopped the video at about the 24 minute mark as I found something important. My request is to have real vision do a segment to explain to subscribers how and why credit problems show up before problems with the underlying equity. I kind of understand this but for retail investors like myself a better understanding would be worth the price of the subscription.

We are worried about ESG for Amazon but not for cannabis? So, he’s not for young people using cannabis (because studies clearly show it harms brain development) but we should legalize it because they’ll surely refrain from using it? Aren’t there enough other places to make money where we don’t have to rationalize harming others? Hey, there should be a nice market void to fill now that we are finally waking up to opioids. Get in there!

Crypto-currency and gold are like humans and dogs. No true wise gold investor associates the two. But interesting interview.

I own both. The former makes it much easier to transfer ownership of the latter cross-border, vault to vault. I read the opinion of an Indian Gold Smuggler around a year ago, stating it was possible to only smuggle some 800 grams of Gold via the human rectum before it affects one's gait. Speaking for myself, if I suddenly find I own physical Gold in a jurisdiction that flips to Gold-Ownership-Unfriendly almost overnight, that's not an extraction method I'd be keen to attempt...

As a Canadian in the health care industry studying cannabis I think there were many valid points by Moses. The time line is probably longer for us to medically understand who really benefits from cannabis before it becomes really really interesting...in the meantime I see mainly middle age well off white males running/profiting from most of these companies...so the women and minority narrative is not quite playing out...yet.

I feel sad to see such "contrarian" falling for typical east coast elite snobbery, cannabis has been linked to schizophrenia- and its immoral to invest in.

In Canada people as young as 18 can now purchase marijuana, notwithstanding evidence that it has negative health impacts on teenage & young adult brains (not to mention pregnant women smoking pot).

To be frank John, speaking as a Brit having spent a number of winter seasons snowboarding in BC in the early noughties, plenty of locals younger than the age of 18 were already availing themselves of locally grown MJ - particularly in the Kootenays. Do you not think there's an argument that legalisation will make it easier to control/limit the sale of weed to youngsters; in the same way as tobacco?
